A Legacy of Mountain Hospitality
The story of Rosa delle Alpi began as a charming "pensione" in what was then known as Esino Superiore. Our historic flyers reveal a mountain haven that offered what was considered modern luxury for its time—private bathrooms, electric lighting, and shaded outdoor spaces where guests could enjoy the mild mountain climate.
In those early days, visitors were drawn to our "position sheltered from winds" and the promise of winter sports at the nearby Agueglio meadows and Cainallo basin. For just 30 Lire per person, guests experienced "choice cuisine" and authentic Italian hospitality with breathtaking views of the surrounding Grigne mountains.
For many years, Rosa delle Alpi then operated under the stewardship of Fondazione COE, serving both as a mountain retreat and as a center for community development and cultural exchange in the Lake Como region.
In recent years, Rosa delle Alpi entered a new chapter with extensive renovations transforming our historic property into a refined boutique hotel. While preserving the authentic character that makes our Lake Como mountain retreat special, we've elevated every aspect of the guest experience.

In late 2024, we expanded our offerings with the acquisition of a historic villa that will soon be transformed into an exclusive accommodation option for those seeking ultimate privacy in Esino Lario.
We are also excited to announce the upcoming opening of Il Larice Bar, currently being remodeled on our ground floor. This sophisticated space will honor the area's winemaking traditions while offering a modern mountain retreat experience. The bar will feature restored historic paintings depicting the winemaking process, blending the past with contemporary design.
Looking ahead, plans are underway to develop additional luxury amenities within the property, further enhancing our position as the premier boutique hotel in the mountains above Lake Como.
